About

The Mustard Kitchen

Location

New Canaan, Connecticut

A kitchen that is not afraid of color.

This New Canaan kitchen, featured on the New Canaan CARES Home Tour 2026, pairs saturated mustard walls with a cobalt blue French range and matching custom hood, a hand-painted red-and-white checkerboard floor, and warm oak cabinetry with a raw-edge marble counter. Café curtains in a blue-and-white print, woven pendant sconces and a scalloped plaster pendant over the table keep the room soft and personal.

  • Full-height oak cabinetry with raw-edge marble countertops and a double-basin stainless sink
  • Cobalt French range with a matching custom hood and a hand-chiseled marble backsplash
  • Hand-painted red-and-white checkerboard floor laid on the diagonal
  • Blue-painted pantry doors and a walk-through to the pantry
  • Café curtains, woven sconces and framed art chosen with the homeowners

Every finish here was chosen because it meant something to the people who live with it. That is the point.
