The Stone Terrace
Fairfield County, Connecticut
An outdoor room, built like an indoor one.
The terrace runs off the back of the house in large-format bluestone, laid with tight joints so it reads as a floor rather than a patio. The kitchen is fieldstone, chosen to match the walls already on the property, with a honed dark stone counter that returns around the corner, a built-in gas grill, a ceramic cooker and refrigeration below. At the far end of the garden a marble outdoor shower sits behind a painted screen wall, floored in river stone.
- Large-format bluestone terrace laid with tight joints
- Fieldstone kitchen with a honed stone counter returning at the corner
- Built-in gas grill, ceramic cooker and under-counter refrigeration
- Marble-lined outdoor shower with a brass rain head
- River-stone shower floor with planted urns either side
Everything outside is detailed to the standard of the rooms indoors, because for half the year it gets the same use.
